Ceramic coating is not a traditional wax or sealant. It's a nano-technology liquid polymer that, when applied to your car, fills every microscopic pore in your paint surface and forms a permanent chemical bond โ€” creating a surface harder, smoother, and more reflective than the paint alone.

At a molecular level, the SiO2 (silicon dioxide) nano-particles cross-link with your paint's clear coat, creating a matrix that is hydrophobic, UV-resistant, and extremely hard. This is the same science used in industrial and aerospace coatings.

With proper maintenance, Koch Chemie ceramic coating typically lasts 2โ€“3 years. Durability depends on your driving conditions, washing habits, and exposure to the elements. Annual top-up washes and decontamination can significantly extend coating life. Unlike wax, it won't wash off in the rain.
Is ceramic coating worth it for daily drivers?
Absolutely โ€” especially for daily drivers. The hydrophobic effect means your car stays cleaner longer, requires fewer washes, and dries faster. The UV protection is vital for cars parked outdoors. You'll also notice fewer water spots, bird dropping stains, and the paint looks consistently brilliant without polishing.
Does ceramic coating prevent all scratches?
Ceramic coating provides substantial scratch resistance (9H hardness) and protects against fine scratches, swirl marks from improper washing, and light abrasions. However, it is not a substitute for PPF when it comes to deep scratches, rock chips, or significant impacts. For maximum protection, we recommend PPF + ceramic coating combined.
Can I apply ceramic coating over PPF?
Yes โ€” and this is actually the best combination. PPF first for physical protection against rock chips and impacts, then ceramic coating on top for hydrophobic properties, UV protection, and gloss enhancement. Our team can advise on the right combination for your car and driving pattern.
How should I maintain my car after ceramic coating?
Avoid washing for 7 days after application. After that, use a proper pH-neutral car shampoo โ€” avoid alkaline detergents that degrade the coating. Use two-bucket wash method or contactless wash. Annual decontamination and a ceramic coating boost spray will significantly extend its life. We provide a full aftercare guide at handover.
How long does the application process take?
Ceramic coating takes 2โ€“3 days at Washkr. This includes decontamination, paint inspection, any necessary paint correction, and careful panel-by-panel application with proper curing time between stages. Never trust a same-day ceramic coating โ€” it means corners were cut.
